Why choose Rock Salt (50 lb)?

Rock salt (sodium chloride, also called halite) is the most economical and widely used ice melt for large areas such as parking lots, driveways, roads and loading docks. It works best at pavement temperatures above roughly 15°F; for colder days, blend it with or switch to calcium chloride.

• Best for: parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, loading docks, private roads
• Size: 50 lb bag — easy to stock for resale or seasonal use
• Tip: spread before or early in a storm to stop ice from bonding, then sweep up leftover salt once pavement is dry

Rock salt FAQ

How much rock salt should I use?
A light, even spread is enough — follow the bag directions. Over-salting wastes product and tracks indoors.

Is rock salt safe on concrete?
It can harm new concrete (less than a year old) and damaged surfaces. For steps and new concrete, consider magnesium chloride.
